Vasorin ampoules

Each ampoule contains:
Papaverine HCl                    0.06 g

Pharmacological properties:
Papaverine is a very active, non-specific, smooth muscle depressant with consequent effects on the blood vessels & other smooth muscle systems.
It relaxes smooth muscles & this relaxation may be prominent if spasm exists. Papaverine HCl relaxes the smooth musculature of the larger blood vessels, especially coronary, systemic peripheral, & pulmonary arteries.
Perhaps by its direct vasodilating action on cerebral blood vessels, Papaverine HCl increases cerebral blood flow & decreases cerebral vascular resistance in normal subjects and oxygen consumption is unaltered.
Papaverine acts on the heart to depress conduction & irritability & to prolong the refractory period of the myocardium, which provides the basis for its clinical trial in abolishing atrial & ventricular premature systoles & threatening ventricular arrhythmias.

Vasorin plasma half-life is 1.5 - 2.2 hours. The drug is highly protein bound & is extensively metabolized in the liver with 50-80% of the dose excreted in urine in 48 hours.

Vasorin is a potent intravenous vasodilator with a short duration of action.
