Each suppository contains:
Glycerin                              1. 61 gm


Glycerin is a hyperosmotic laxative, which is given rectally & usually produces a bowel movement within 15 minutes to one hour. The hyperosmotic laxative effect of glycerin attracts water into the stool thereby stimulating rectal contractions also lubricates & softens inspissated fecal mass.

Indications & usage:
Glycerin suppositories are indicated in the following cases:
•    Treatment of constipation.
•    Evacuation of the colon in preparation for rectal & bowel examinations (preradiography), & in elective colon surgery (preoperative).
•    It is indicated temporarily to reestablish normal bowel function in laxative–dependant patients.

- Appendicitis             
- Rectal bleeding          
- Intestinal obstruction
- Sensitivity to the class of laxative used.

Side effects:
Skin irritation surrounding rectal area.

Drug interactions:
Potassium-sparing diuretics, or potassium supplements: chronic use or over use of laxatives may reduce serum potassium concentrations by promoting excessive potassium loss from the intestinal tract, may interfere with potassium–retaining effects of potassium sparing diuretics.

-    Do not use a laxative product when nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain is present unless directed by a physician.
-    If you notice a sudden change in bowel habits that persists over a period of 2 weeks, consult a physician before using a laxative.
-    Laxatives should not be used longer than 1 week unless directed by a physician.
-    This product may cause rectal discomfort or a burning sensation.

Pregnancy &Lactation:
If pregnant or breast feeding, ask a health professional before use.

In case of accidental overdose or ingestion, contact a poison control center immediately.

Dosage & administration:
Children older than 6 years and adults: Do not exceed one suppository daily or as directed by a doctor. .

Therapeutic category:  Hyperosmotic laxative.

Protect from light, at a temperature below 30° C.
