Composition : Each tablet contains: Thiamine hydrochloride (Vitamin B1) 125 mg Pyridoxine hydrochloride (Vitamin B6 ) 125 mg Cyanocobalamine (Vitamin B12 ) 125 mcg Folic acid 0.5 mg Excipients : Polyvinyl pyrilidone , Talc , Magnesium stearate , Starch , Colloidal silicon dioxide . Pharmaceutical form: tablets. Pharmacological action : Vitamin B1 combines with ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) to form thiamine pyrophosphate, also known as co – carboxylase, a co-enzyme, which catalyzes the decarboxylation of pyruvic acid and other keto acids . Vitamin B6 acts as a co-enzyme in the metabolism of proteins , carbohydrates and fats . It participates in the decarboxylation and transamination of amino acids and is responsible for the breakdown of glycogen to glucose -1-phosphate . Vitamin B12 is essential for growth , cell reproduction, hematopoiesis and synthesis of nucleoprotein and myelin . Folic acid is required for nucleoprotein synthesis and maintenance of normal erythropoiesis . Folic acid stimulates the production of red and white blood cells as well as platelets . Indications : Trivarol tablets are indicated in painful neuritis, inborn errors of metabolism, inadequate dietary intake, pernicious anemia, hemolytic anemia and cases of increased vitamin requirement such as pregnancy and in treatment of megaloblastic anemia. Dosage & administration : One tablet daily or as directed by the physician. Contraindications : A history of sensitivity to any component of the product. Side effects : - Mild transient diarrhea and itching are reported. - Feeling of warmth, tightness of the throat, nausea and headache. Drug interactions : - Vitamin B6 increases the peripheral metabolism of levodopa. - Chloramphenicol may antagonize the hematopoietic response to vitamin B12. - Colchicine, aminoglycosides, certain anticonvulsants e.g. (phenytoin, Phenobarbital) and para aminosalicylic acid may impair the absorption of vitamin B 12. - Concomitant administration of trivarol with phenytoin, isoniazide, primidone, and barbiturates may cause folate deficiency. - When trivarol and cholestyramine are administered together there may be a reduction in folic acid absorption.
